The rule of thumb for unsorted Lego is between 6$ and 12$ per pound. If the bricks are sorted by color or include lots of desirable pieces, they are worth more. The value of Lego Minifigures varies greatly.

In most cases when you buy in bulk, suppliers are happy to lower the price and take less of a profit when they know the sale is a sure thing. It sure beats having a warehouse full of stock that can’t/won’t sell. Rather than sell one at a time, they offer a discount to order a large quantity.
