The motors power the bay doors, the robot arm and the satellite. The arm can turn and bend and the satellite solar panels can open and close.
The fibre optic system is used to light up the engines. The shuttle also has hand-operated landing gear and flaps. The alternate model, a submarine, is at least as good as the shuttle.
I still bring it out of storage occasionally and do it all again.Includes 3 minifigures with assorted accessories: a driver, pilot and a service person. The set is very easy to put together and the jet and truck are very cute. The trailer comes off of the truck and the wings of the jet fold up. It comes with three minifgis and even a little yellow car. The truck is sturdy and does not fall apart when the 3 year old plays with it.
I have not seen it out of the package but he was thrilled upon receiving it and has let me know several times over the past week how much he likes playing with it.

Always love the articulating pieces in lego sets. My little boy (7 years old) has played with this so much!
It’s used quite a bit, but my boys (4 and 9) love to drive their lego vehicles around, and the trailer makes it even more fun. He almost doesn’t need the instruction book. It went together within a couple hours with only one suggestion from grandpa.
I really liked this set and it does not disappoint. Load the satellite into the space shuttle and use the powerful, mobile launchpad to slowly maneuver it to the launch site. Then deliver the astronauts with the service vehicle and get strapped in as countdown commences, 3… 2… 1… liftoff!
Eject the external fuel tank and rocket boosters and then open the cargo bay doors ready to launch the satellite!
Space shuttle features a detachable external fuel tank, 2 detachable rocket boosters, opening cargo bay doors and a foldout loading arm. Transportthe astronauts to the spacecraft!
Eject the external fuel tank and boosters!

Feel the power as the main engines ignite and send the shuttle hurtling into space.
I was a little reluctant because some reviews said it was somewhat easy and not challenging enough for the price. He built it in about 3 hours and displayed it on the fireplace mantle. When people see it they comment on how nice it looks and he tells them he is keeping it as a collectors item and seems to be very proud of how good it looks. This set brings out a lot of memories for us adults. It is a good size, and the lift-off (detachable) rocket and extra figurines make it a fun piece to play with after building.
This was fun to build, and looks great on display in the den with other space related items.
I really like how you get the full shuttle with rockets, and it displays well on the mobile launchpad. The ailerons tend to fall off and so does the nose section, but otherwise it holds together pretty well and those pieces are easy to reattach. What is most amazing is that in one day it was completely put together.
I would highly recommend this product and seller.
